The George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston has earned LEED Silver certification for an existing building. The facility has undertaken a number of green initiatives, including adding solar panels to the roof, cutting water usage, recycling waste materials and making building operations more efficient. The center offers 862,000 square feet of exhibit space, a 31,500-square-foot ballroom, a 3,600-seat theater and 185,000 square feet of breakout space.
