Hospitality giant MGM International and facilities operation company AEG have formalized details of their joint venture to build a new arena between the New York-New York and Monte Carlo resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. The design firm Populous will be the architect and designer of the 20,000-seat venue; ground should be broken in summer 2014, and the facility should open in spring 2016. The $350 million project is expected to draw sporting events and concert headliners, with ample space for hospitality and private events. Among the many facilities designed by Populous are the O2 arenas in London and Berlin, and the Sprint Center in Kansas City.
