In Las Vegas, the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino today announced plan to expand its on-site convention center by more than 350,000 feet of exhibit space. "Several long-standing customers approached us with a need for additional space to grow their business; they looked to us to be a solution provider, and we went to work," said Chuck Bowling, president and COO of Mandalay Bay, in a statement. The expansion will give the convention venue a new total of 1.1 million square feet of exhibit space and a grand total of more than 2,050,000 square feet. New features will include a 70,000-square-foot ballroom divisible by five, plus additional meeting and parking facilities. Construction is set to begin late this fall, with the new exhibit space available in August 2015 and an anticipated completion of all spaces in January 2016. The project is expected to cost about $66 million.
