The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority's food and beverage selection committee has recommended Levy Restaurants as the new F&B partner for the MCCA. The authority's board is expected to approve the selection on Thursday, stipulating that Levy purchase 50 percent of its supplies from local sources. Levy also has agreed to accept the terms of the current collective-bargaining agreement with Local 26 of Unite Here, the hospitality workers union. Unite Here, however, is skeptical of the deal, saying an agreement between Levy and the union itself needs to be signed before the vote takes place. "Five hundred men and women who helped make the convention center a success are afraid they'll lose their jobs," said Local 26 president Janice Loux in a statement. "We just completed contract negotiations with the current vendor. We're demanding that the new company rehire these workers and recognize that collective-bargaining agreement. We will fight until the agreement is signed."
