The Memphis (Tenn.) Convention and Visitors Bureau will take over as manager of the Memphis Cook Convention Center tomorrow. SMG, which has managed the city- and county-owned 350,000-square-foot facility since 1992, is turning over the reins to Memphis Management Group, an arm of the city's CVB. The decision to swap managers came last year, followed by the formation of the MMG and the hiring of Pierre Landaiche, SMG's former regional general, as manager of the center. For now only minor changes are planned, such as outfitting employees with new uniforms, but the center also has a new website design (memphisconvention.com), a new logo and new carpeting. In October, a welcome center that serves as an information and concierge desk will be installed just inside the main entrance.
