On Oct. 22, the Minneapolis Convention Center flipped the switch on 2,613 solar panels and began collecting solar energy from its rooftop. The solar photovoltaic system will produce 750,000 kwh of energy per year for the convention center. The renewable energy produced is equivalent to powering 85 homes each year and will offset 539 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
