Philadelphia's Pennsylvania Convention Center will eliminate its 8 percent labor management fee charged to customers and exhibitors as of July 1, the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority announced Wednesday. That move is the initial step in the convention center's transition to a new business model, aimed at lowering labor costs in the facility. The PCCA and Elliott Lewis Corp., the facility's labor supplier, are working together to develop additional streamlining policies, including those that touch on hospitality training and full billing transparency. The PCCA made the announcement as part of its Meeting Metropolis event, currently under way for planners at the newly expanded convention center. "We listened to our customers and we took their needs seriously," said PCCA president and CEO Ahmeenah Young in a statement.
