Among the upgrades, about 260,000 square feet of new exhibit space will be added, for a total of more than 500,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space; a new 54,000-square-foot ballroom will be built; an outdoor balcony will wrap around the building; entrances will be redone, and the kitchen will be upgraded. Keeping sustainability in mind, the project is aiming for Silver LEED certification.
