Market Center Management Company has chosen a site for its Nashville Medical Trade Center, a permanent venue for medical trade shows and exhibits. The privately financed medical mart will occupy the existing Nashville Convention Center. Meanwhile, the city is planning to build a new convention center, called Music City Center; the proposed $585 million, 1.2 million-square-foot facility would open in early 2013. Work to convert the Nashville Convention Center building could begin as early as mid-2010. The $250 million medical mart project will add a new 12-story tower and expand the complex to 2 million square feet.
