The Virginia Beach Convention Center, which offers 500,000 square feet of meeting space, has achieved Gold LEED Certification under the existing-building category. Sustainable practices that helped the center achieve the designation included an environmental communications program, which features an environmental awareness presentation on the center's 360-foot video wall; an energy management outreach project, and staff training on sustainable initiatives. In addition, the center has strong recycling, water-efficiency, energy-efficiency, and sustainable food-and-beverage programs.
