Flying saucers and little green men (come-to-life toy soldiers) are the latest attractions revealed for Disney's Toy Story Land, which will debut June 30. The new land, part of Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, gives visitors the illusion of shrinking down to the size of a toy as they enter a recreated version of Andy's backyard from the Disney Pixar films.
The latest attraction details for the 11-acre park include the Alien Swirling Saucers, featuring three-eyed green space creatures in flying saucers who allow guests to ride along and whirl among toy planets and space stations. Toy Story Land also will feature Sarge and the Green Army Man Drum Corps, "toy soldiers" that will be marching several times a day through the park. As the drum corps marches on, guests are invited to follow another contingent of Green Army Men to an interactive boot camp to play with giant Pixar balls and oversized crayons, and to join in a game of "Sarg Says."
Previously announced Toy Story Land attractions include the Slinky Dog Dash, a family-friendly coaster that will "send riders dipping, dodging and dashing around turns and drops," and Woody's Lunch Box, a quick-service kiosk serving tasty eats and old-fashioned soda floats.
Walt Disney World's other new summer 2018 offerings include the takeover of Tomorrowland (in the Magic Kingdom) by Disney Pixar super-hero characters from The Incredibles and a dance party on the Rocket Tower Stage, while super heroes from another franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy, will join an "alien" band at the America Gardens Theatre at Epcot. In addition, Disney's Animal Kingdom will launch two new experiences in mid-2018: A "dino-tastic" celebration where Donald Duck takes over Dinoland U.S.A.; and Explorers Meet UP! A Great Bird Adventure, where characters from the Disney Pixar film Up discover species of birds from around the world.
