Active Network launched a new site-selection tool today called Meeting Locator. The online tool, part of Active's StarCite strategic meetings management platform, takes data from StarCite's spend-management platform and Carlson Wagonlit Travel's database to recommend meeting locations. Among the hundreds of variables factored into the recommendations are historical airfare, room rates, carbon emissions, and the cost and availability of telepresence for those unable to attend in person. The technology also supports more than 100 different currencies. Because Meeting Locator is built into StarCite's spend-management platform, it can be integrated into clients' current workflow and approval processes. Meeting Locator is available immediately to StarCite SMM customers. Additional capabilities will be launched later this year, according to JR Sherman, Active Network's senior vice president of business solutions. "Early adopters will have an opportunity to help influence and shape our next-generation tool based on their evolving needs," Sherman said.
