Through a partnership with InterContinental, Meeting Professionals International has developed an online corporate social responsibility tool that planners can use to benchmark their meetings against the green standards that will be launched soon by the Convention Industry Council’s APEX Green Meeting Standards committee. It also evaluates companies’ social policies, community hours donated and other efforts. MPI's CSR/sustainability tool is free to members; a fee has yet to be set for nonmembers. The tool, available here [http://www.mpiweb.org/Portal/CSR], was announced during MPI’s World Education Congress, which finished up yesterday in Vancouver, British Columbia. About 2,700 people were expected to attend the convention; final numbers will be released Aug. 3. Next year’s WEC, to be held in Orlando July 23-26, will not feature a trade show.
