Smart City, a provider of networking technology to convention centers, launched EventPath yesterday, a convention district network that connects convention centers with nearby hotels. With the new high-speed, fiber-based network, participating hotels can provide various convention services, such as remote registration, integrated interactive digital signage, integrated Wi-Fi, remote access to booth resources and videoconferencing extensions. The system was tested in Florida in March, when the Orange County Convention Center and the Peabody Orlando teamed up to try it out. Since then, 11 additional hotels have contracted to become part of the city's convention district network.
