Roomlinx, a developer of interactive TV applications for hotels, this week launched SmartEvent, meetings-focused technology for communicating with attendees through in-room televisions. Event organizers can use the application to create and display welcome messages, program schedules, speaker and exhibitor promotions, videos, and web links, as well as to advertise related products and services. Planners can purchase different levels of SmartEvent features and have the option of turning it into a revenue stream by reselling space to sponsors, exhibitors and vendors. SmartEvent currently is being used at some Hyatt properties and should be available in as many as 60,000 Hyatt rooms in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean over the next two years.
