Brand USA partnered with MacGillivray Freeman Films to produce a new IMAX film called “National Parks Adventure,” opening February 12 in more than 400 IMAX theaters around the globe. Timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, the film was created in part to help increase international tourism to the wilderness offerings that exist outside the United States’ main gateway cities.

We were recently treated to a sneak preview of the film, which features spectacular footage of more than 30 national parks across the United States, and a Q&A with director Greg MacGillivray at the California Science Center. MacGillivray later told me that Brand USA contacted the company to make the film following the success of a film they had produced with California tourism officials. The concept for this film came from Brand USA Senior Vice-President Tom Garzilli, who oversaw the entire process.

During our visit to the California Science Center, we were also able to tour the Samuel Oschin Space Shuttle Endeavour Display Pavilion, which is the temporary home for the Endeavour and is available for group events. A permanent home for the shuttle is currently scheduled to open in 2019 as part of the bigger Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center, which will also offer a variety of event space for groups. At that time, the shuttle will be propped up in launch position with a flight-qualified external tank and its compartments opened up to offer a view inside.
