Las Vegas convention attendance was up 5.2 percent in March compared with a year ago, according to statistics from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. That marks the first such year-over-year increase for the city in 2010. Good news for Las Vegas also came in the form of a slight increase in the average daily room rate, which inched up 0.8 percent to $93.23 for the month. Overall visitor volume also was up slightly, by 0.7 percent, marking March the seventh straight month that visitation either increased or held steady compared with the previous year. The number of conventions and meetings held, however, was down by 2.9 percent.
