Destination California, a unique professional networking and education opportunity in the Golden State, kicks off Monday, May 15, at The L.A. Hotel Downtown in Los Angeles. The event, hosted by Northstar Meetings Group, will welcome 60 meeting planner professionals and more than 75 industry suppliers for three days of networking, targeted education and L.A.-centric activities. Meeting professionals will have the opportunity to connect with representatives from hotels, destination marketing organizations, destination management companies and various event venues from across California.

Educational sessions, which are approved for CMP credits, include timely presentations by noted experts.

Bill Wooditch, a recognized authority on leadership and perfomance, will present "Fluid, Flexible and Fast: Essential Survival Skills in Today's Business World." Wooditch, who will appear courtesy of Goodman Speakers Bureau, is the founder and CEO of The Wooditch Group, a risk-management and insurance-services firm. In his popular session, he'll share game-changing strategies in life and business - "The Think and Do Effect," "Play it Forward" and "Close the Circle." Check out his M&C article, "Live Your Life by Design [linkto: http://www.meetings-conventions.com/blogs/guest-stars/post/2017/04/21/live-your-life-by-design]," for a taste of his approach to success.

In "2017: A Year of Disruption," industry leader Michael Dominguez, chief sales officer for MGM Resorts International, will address the big-picture issues on everyone's mind. Thanks to the global geopolitical climate, technological advances and sweeping measures affecting the U.S. travel industry, 2017 has already established itself as a year to be reckoned with. In this session, Dominguez will address hot-button issues such as cyber security, meetings advocacy, health and wellness, and the myths vs. realities of today's charged political environment as they relate to our industry.

A focal point of the event will be the one-on-one meetings between meeting professionals and supplier representatives. More than 1,300 of these meetings will take place, as planners seek the best supplier partners and hosts for their events, from across the state of California.
