Meeting Professionals International's bimonthly economic report for October, the Business Barometer, shows contract employment continues to grow the most, with 33 percent of the organizations surveyed increasing hiring in that area, up from 31 percent in August. The top issue on meeting planners' minds continues to be short lead times, while high costs is creeping up the list. Sixty-three percent of those surveyed said business conditions are favorable, and 70 percent project better times to come; both percentages have steadily increased since December. The full report is available at no cost for MPI members here; nonmembers can buy the report for $25.
