Sixty percent of respondents to the Travel Buyers Survey conducted by Maxvantage said they believe the meetings industry is gradually improving and that it is stable. Maxvantage, an alliance formed between American Express Business Travel and Maritz Travel, surveyed 90 clients in June who have direct responsibility for strategic meetings management. Respondents indicated, too, that finding available meeting space and negotiating terms and conditions were more difficult in June 2010 than in December 2009. Hotel data from Maxvantage reveals that room rates are beginning to stabilize; while top destination rates do continue to drop, the year-over-year decrease is much less severe than last year's.
