Following the discovery of the Zika-carrying mosquito in a section of Miami, William Talbert III, president and CEO of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, says his organization supports recommendations made this week by the Centers for Disease Control and says the CVB will post links to the CDC updates. He told M&C that no groups have canceled since the mosquitoes were discovered.

"We want planners to know we are open for business," Talbert said. He stressed that the neighborhood affected, Wynwood, is "just one square mile" of the city.

The CVB currently is working with Visit Florida, the state health department and the mayor's office to set up a joint information center and website to make sure residents and visitors have the most accurate and up-to-date facts and information. Talbert said he expects the website to be launched this week.
