New Orleans welcomed 8.3 million visitors in 2010, a 10.7 percent increase over 2009 and the first time the number reached 8 million since Hurricane Katrina. Those who came spent $5.3 billion, a $1.1 billion increase over 2009 and the highest spending in the city’s history. Twenty-two percent of those travelers were visiting on business, 47 percent of whom extended their stay for an average of 2.1 days.
