The Corporation for Travel Promotion has named Jim Evans as its first CEO. Most recently CEO and co-founder of Ardent Hotel Advisors and formerly the president and CEO of Best Western, Evans will lead the organization's efforts to promote the United States as a travel destination and to strengthen the U.S. tourism industry. The CTP was created by the Travel Promotion Act, which was signed into law in 2010 to help the country capture a larger share of the global travel market. According to the group, each overseas visitor to the United States spends an average of $4,000 per trip on hotels, restaurants, attractions, retail and other activities.
