The respective boards of each company confirmed the discussions following a surge in UBM's stock price. Informa could potentially acquire UBM, and has until Feb. 13 to confirm whether or not it will make a serious offer to do so. Discussions are ongoing about the exact nature of the acquisition.
UBM organizes B2B events across the globe, with a presence in more than 20 countries and events in more than 50 different specialized industry sectors - among them fashion, pharmaceutical ingredients, life sciences, food service and technology. More than 3,750 people work for UBM.
Informa has a significant presence in North and South America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and employs more than 7,500 people. Its B2B events cover a variety of industry sectors, including real estate and construction, agriculture, beauty, global health and nutrition.
