U.K. meetings industry veteran Vanessa Cotton died following a long battle with cancer, according to published reports. Cotton, who most recently served as nonexecutive chair of Reed Travel Exhibitions' meetings and events portfolio, announced in April her departure from the organization. Cotton also served as managing director of conferences and events at ExCeL London for four years. In a statement released today by Reed Travel Exhibitions, managing director Richard Mortimore said, "We at RTE are deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Vanessa's death. Our thoughts at this time are with her family and friends. She was a true industry doyenne and contributed much to our team. She will be greatly missed in the meetings industry."
