Marc Lauer

Marc Lauer in June was named general manager of the 1,214-room Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, returning him to the city where he got his start 30-plus years ago.

How has Chicago changed since you last worked here?
This hotel did not exist when I left. The meeting facilities of McCormick Place and Navy Pier have grown and improved tremendously. And the arts, especially live theater, have really blossomed over the years in both caliber and talent, as has the food scene. On a personal note, where we live now in the New East Side was a golf course back then and is now a neighborhood!

Alleson Liebling has been named sales and services manager for the Southwest region for the Scottsdale (Ariz.) Convention & Visitors Bureau, where she works with corporate, association, incentive and third-party planners for Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Idaho. Liebling comes to the post following four years of experience as an account executive with Hello! Arizona.

In Avon, Colo., the 230-room Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Beaver Creek Mountain has hired Jayden Callahan as director of food and beverage, following her stint in that position at the Sheraton Kauai Resort in Hawaii.

The 963-room Hyatt Regency Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverfront has named Matt Evans as assistant director of sales. He previously served as a senior sales manager with the property.

In Alabama, Jennifer Fridley has been rehired as director of sales and marketing at the 149-room Hampton Inn & Suites Birmingham-Tutwiler. Fridley had the same job from 2006 to 2013, when she left the hotel to work at Integral Hospitality Solutions.
Halley Karas

The 188-room Westin Columbus (Ohio) has hired Halley Karas as general manager. She previously served as director of operations of the DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago North Shore.
Sam Pollack

The Daytona Beach (Fla.) Area Convention & Visitors Bureau has hired Sam Pollack as sales manager. He previously was sales manager at the Westin Lake Mary, just north of Orlando.
Travis Teague

Travis Teague, who had served as director of operations at the  254-room Hyatt French Quarter for the past two years, has been promoted to general manager.
Katie Walny

At the 188-suite Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel, Katie Walny has been named catering sales executive, a role she most previously held at the BWI Airport Marriott in Linthicum Heights, Md.
