Fred Euler, General Manager, Hyatt Regency Dallas In a 37-year run with Hyatt Hotels, Fred Euler has gone from the food and beverage department to management, and has held his current post as general manager for the 1,120-room Hyatt Regency Dallas since 2010. He recently sat down to discuss his job, his commitment to corporate social responsibility and his 'Born to Be Wild' side with M&C.

What's a good example of how you go all-out for a group?
Not long ago, a company was celebrating their 50th anniversary with us, and we wanted to make it really special. So we served a five-course meal, with the chef creating individually themed courses to match the five decades of the company's existence. We also played hit music from each era, and our servers even altered their uniforms between each course to 'fit the part.' It was great!

How has your hotel gotten involved in charitable causes?
We are proud of our long history and strong partnerships with organizations like the Ronald McDonald House, Groundwork Dallas, the Union Gospel Mission and others. Our involvement with Hands On Education, a state-funded training program that has prepared more than 1,300 students with disabilities for work in the hospitality industry, is particularly meaningful to me, because the individuals we help train are a part of the industry's future.

What do you like to do in your spare time? I bought a Harley motorcycle several years ago while serving as general manager at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, and it was like living in a postcard, riding through the Sierra Nevada Mountains and around the lake. Now in Texas, I'm still looking for favorite places. Just this weekend I was riding along while listening to a personal favorite, 'Riding With the King' by B.B. King and Eric Clapton. It just doesn't get much better than that.
