• 32% of respondents report that their organizations do not have a meetings policy or guidelines.

• 21% of those that do have policies believe all meetings comply.

• 41% have not discussed strategic meetings management within their organizations. Another 7 percent are unfamiliar with the term.

• 25% are interested in taking small steps toward strategic meetings management initiatives.

In a February 2010 survey by M&C, just 14 percent of meeting professionals had a strategic meetings management program in place ( Today, that number has more than doubled, to 31 percent, according to an M&C poll conducted last month. Also, nearly two-thirds of the 109 survey respondents correctly defined the SMM concept as a disciplined approach to managing enterprise-wide meeting and event activities, processes and data.
