Jamaica is planning to double its visitor arrival tax in October, according to press reports. The measure, which has been approved byJamaica's Cabinet but still needs final approval from the Parliament, will raise the arrivals tax from US$10 to US$20. The additional funds generated by the increase will go toward marketing Jamaica in emerging markets such as Brazil, Russia, India, China, Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea and Turkey.
