All international visitors to Jamaica will be required to pay a new $20 arrival tax, effective Aug. 1, according to M&C's sister publication Travel Weekly. The fee is in addition to the $20 international arrival tax that went into effect last fall, bringing the new total to $40 per person. The new tax, along with the existing departure tax of 1,800 Jamaican dollars ($20 U.S.) will be rolled into the price of the airline ticket. Effective Sept. 1, visitors will be required to pay an accommodations tax of $4 per room, per night, for hotels with more than 100 guest rooms; $2 per room, per night, for hotels with 51 to 100 rooms; and $1 per room, per night, for properties with 50 rooms or fewer.
