Last week, voters in South San Francisco approved an increase to the transient occupancy tax, from 9 to 10 percent, effective Jan. 1, while the cities of Burlingame, Brisbane, Millbrae, San Mateo and San Bruno voted to raise the hotel tax from 10 to 12 percent. In addition, San Mateo voters approved a sales tax increase, from 9.25 percent to 9.5 percent.
