IBTM America, which debuted its new, smaller meeting format last week in Chicago, will next take place in Nashville, June 15-17, 2016, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center.

"As part of our strategy to experience the most dynamic business destinations, we are delighted to be not only taking IBTM to Nashville, but to be using the spectacular facilities of this world-class resort," said Jaime McAuley, IBTM America event director.

The hosted-buyer event had been alternating between Chicago's McCormick Place and Orlando's Orange County Convention Center; this year's program, however, was the first without a traditional trade show. Nearly 200 exhibitors and the same number of hosted buyers attended last week's show at McCormick Place, with a predetermined schedule of one-on-one meetings. Those interactions occurred in 8-by-8-foot meeting pods, rather than more elaborate trade-show booths. Last year's event, which was called the Americas Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition (AIBTM) and took place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, drew 1,200 buyers and 508 exhibitors.

Many of the hosted buyers at this year's show were from third-party meeting and incentive companies (57 percent), while more than one-quarter of buyers (27 percent) were corporate planners. The other buyers were either association or government planners. Eighty percent of the buyers were from the U.S., while 75 percent of the exhibitors were from North America.
