IMEX America, which opens today, Oct. 13, at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas, is the largest in the show's five-year history. On the exhibitor side, there are 3,100 companies; the 80 first-time exhibitors include Guam, Taiwan, Asia, Hungary, Zagreb (Croatia), Paraguay, Ecuador, Cincinnati, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. There also is significant growth from returning exhibitors, as 20 percent of all returning exhibitors have increased the size of their booths. The number of hosted buyers also is expected to increase, but those numbers are not available yet.

Pre-arranged one-to-one appointments and booth presentations, scheduled by buyers before the show opens using the unique IMEX appointments system, has grown to more than 55,000, while 1,200 group appointments have also been made.

One change to the show format this year is that the floor now opens at 9:45 a.m. each day, with no group appointments scheduled before 11 or after 4, giving hosted buyers and all attendees more time to explore the booths, experience the extensive education program or schedule their own appointments.
Also on-site this year are a meditation room, a device-free space where attendees can meditate or do yoga stretches, and the "IMEXrun Las Vegas -- Inspired by Rio de Janeiro," which takes place Wednesday morning.
