IMEX America, the international meetings, events and incentive travel industry, kicked off yesterday at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas with a record number of exhibitors. Although total numbers were not available at press time, the show’s organizers say that the number of U.S. and Canadian exhibitors is up by 16.5 percent; Latin America by 6.5 percent; Europe by 3 percent and Asia-Pacific by nearly 8 percent; 83 percent of the show’s previous exhibitors have increased the size of their booths. “Aside from the confirmed growth in exhibitor numbers and the expanded show floor, we are set to bring in even more hosted buyers and more attendees,” said Ray Bloom, chairman of the IMEX Group. In 2013, the show had 2,700 hosted buyers, 1,700 visitors and 2,694 exhibitors. The three-day show ends tomorrow.
