IMEX America, the three-day meetings industry trade show that was held at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas this week, attracted a record 3,250 exhibitors from 139 countries, a 4.8 percent increase from 2015. The 2016 show offered a record 269 education sessions, including a new open forum for senior planners.

On the planner side, the show welcomed more than 3,000 hosted buyers and 1,000 people who attended on their own; these numbers also broke previous IMEX America records. More than 60,000 individual appointments between buyers and sellers were made during the three-day event.

The show introduced several new offerings, including the Zenvoy app, for peer-to-peer networking, and a live Networking Hub. A new CSR initiative on Monday, Garbage Grabbers - Clean Up Las Vegas, gave volunteers the chance to clean up a local park. A new CSR and Sustainability Showcase presented opportunities to make Clean the World hygiene kits for charities, and an innovative #GreenCaffeine campaign encouraged participants to refill reusable travel cups rather than using disposable ones.

At the close of the show, Ray Bloom, chairman of the IMEX Group, announced that DoubleDutch has been appointed the new mobile partner for both IMEX America and its sister show, IMEX Frankfurt in Germany. He also revealed the dates of IMEX America for upcoming years: Sept. 10-12, 2019, and Sept. 15-17, 2020. Next year's show will take place at the Sands Oct. 10-12, and in 2018 on Oct. 16-18.
