More than 3,800 hosted buyers from more than 60 countries attended the IMEX 2010 trade show last week in Frankfurt, Germany. According to preliminary figures, the total number of visitors, including hosted buyers, was nearly 9,000. Last year, the show attracted about 3,700 buyers and 8,800 total visitors. Among European exhibitors who said they were experiencing an increase in business from the U.S. for 2011 and 2012 was Olivier Lepine, director of Biarritz (France) Tourism. Roy T. Benear, senior vice president for the Austin (Texas) Convention & Visitors Bureau, said business, from all markets, "was the best it has been in the three years I've been coming to the show." In other news, winners of IMEX's annual awards were announced. Among those honored were the Adelaide (Australia) Convention Center, which won the Green Supplier Award; the Switzerland Convention & Incentive Bureau, which won the Green Exhibitor Award; Toronto Tourism, winner of the IMEX Commitment to Community Award; and, in the category of Green Meetings, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs won for the UN Climate Change Conference COP15.
