IMEX Frankfurt, which took place last week at Messe Frankfurt in Germany, welcomed a record number of exhibitors and attendees. This year's show included 64 new exhibitors, including Rwanda and Azerbaijan, for a  total of 3,500. The overall visitor total of nearly 9,000 included roughly 4,000 hosted buyers from 77 countries, with one-third of the group coming from long-haul markets including Brazil, Russia, China, India and North America. Other highlights included the preshow corporate-buyer event, Exclusively Corporate @IMEX, which attracted 80 corporate buyers and senior corporate executives from 21 countries; and an opening ceremony featuring Taleb Rifai, secretary-general of the World Tourism Organization, the United Nations Specialized Agency for Tourism, who also participated in IMEX's one-day Politicians Forum.
