Next year, TED will celebrate its 30th anniversary by moving its annual West Coast conference from Long Beach, Calif., to Vancouver, Canada. The event will be held March 17-21, 2014, at the Vancouver Convention Center, an eco-friendly venue set on the scenic Burrard Inlet. For TED2014, organizers also will be scaling back audience sizes from 1,400 to 1,200 paid attendees "to strike the right balance of scale and intimacy and allow for more in-depth human connection," according to TED's blog. TED originally was held in Monterey, Calif., from 1984 to 2008 before moving to its current location in Long Beach.
