At a press conference held today at IMEX 2010 in Frankfurt, Germany, Ray Bloom, chairman of the IMEX Group, announced that Fenton, Mo.-based incentive firm Maritz Travel will hold its annual client event during the inaugural IMEX America, being held Oct. 11-13 , 2011, in Las Vegas. The estimated 100 clients will be part of the IMEX America hosted buyer group.

Other companies that will bring large hosted buyer groups to the show include HelmsBriscoe, ConferenceDirect, Meeting Professionals International, ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership, PCMA, Intercontinental Hotels and Starwood Hotels & Resorts. In all, some 2,000 hosted buyers are expected at the show; Bloom projects that 20,000 online appointments will be set up between planners and exhibitors in advance.

At the same press conference, Bruce MacMillan, president and CEO of MPI,  announced that IMEX America and MPI would launch a series of six educational webcasts this fall, leading up to the debut of the trade show. MPI is the strategic partner for IMEX America.
