The Pronto bike-share program began renting bicycles on Monday in Seattle, offering 500 bikes at 50 stations throughout the city. Users can sign up for 24-hour or three-day passes or purchase an annual membership for unlimited 30-minute trips. Costs after 30 minutes run $2 for 30–60 minutes, $7 for 60–90 minutes and an additional 30 minutes for $5 each; rides over eight hours and under 24 cost $77. Once a bike is docked, riders must wait three minutes before they can take out another bike. A helmet vending machine will be added in early 2015.
