Ride-service app Lyft has introduced a new Premier option, which allows passengers to request a high-end sedan or SUV, such as a BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Lexus ES or Cadillac Escalade. The new option currently is available only in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles and New York City, with more locations on the way. The upscale rides are aimed at Lyft's growing base of business users and travelers who desire to impress clients, colleagues or bosses. According to the company, more than 60 percent of Lyft passengers have requested a luxury vehicle option.

Lyft Premier helps to round out the company's service options, which also include Lyft, for one to four passengers; Lyft Plus, for as many as six passengers; and Lyft Line, a carpool commuter option.
