Tackling meetings and events spend is a top-10 goal for travel managers worldwide, according to the CWT Travel Management Priorities report for 2013. The study, based on a survey of nearly 800 travel managers, found that meetings and events ranked 10th among travel-manager priorities for the coming year, with 16 percent of all respondents naming it a top-5 goal. More than one-fifth (21 percent) of travel managers with global responsibilities said tackling meetings and events is one of their top-5 priorities. Topping the list of priorities for the year were driving air and ground transportation savings, improving traveler compliance and optimizing hotel spend. More than half of those surveyed (53 percent) intend to increase their use of virtual meetings in the coming year. Similarly, more than 50 percent of respondents in North America and Asia-Pacific plan to incorporate technology into their meetings to create hybrid events.
