Approximately 1,000 hotel workers and community members, joined by Richard Trumka, president of the AFL-CIO, protested in the streets of downtown San Francisco yesterday against what Unite Here chapter Local 2 claims to be the refusal by major hotel corporations to settle a fair contract after five months of negotiations, strikes and protests throughout the city. The demonstration also launched a customer boycott of the Hilton San Francisco Union Square. Earlier in December, hotel workers also called for a boycott of the W San Francisco hotel.
