 Long Beach Hilton workers are seeking back pay for being denied their 10-minute breaks. California state law designates that workers have two 10-minute breaks and one 30-minute break per eight-hour shift. According to Unite Here Local 11, some 20 staffers are seeking compensation from the HEI-owned hotel and, in addition to monetary reimbursement, look at the complaints as a way to hold hotels accountable for chronic short staffing.
