The Chicago-based American Dental Association, the Austin-based Texas Dental Association and the Greater Houston Dental Society have announced plans to combine their respective annual meetings into one. This collaborative effort is expected to bring more than 30,000 dental professionals to Houston for the event in 2022.

"As home to the largest medical center, Houston is a natural fit for medical meetings of this magnitude, and we look forward to welcoming the ADA," John Solis, senior vice president of sales for Visit Houston, said in a statement.

Houston is well equipped to host such events: The city's Texas Medical Center is home to 56 institutions, more than 100,000 employees and a membership that includes the country's top-ranked hospitals and academic institutions. A newly designated downtown "campus," Avenida Houston, features the George R. Brown Convention Center, two headquarters hotels, a 12-acre park space, five connected restaurants and plenty of public art.
