August saw the debut of two properties. The 244-room Hotel Sorella in Houston's new CityCentre development is connected by skywalk to the 30,000-square-foot Norris Conference Center–Houston/City­Centre, which offers a 7,800-square-foot ballroom. Restaurateur Alex Brennan-Martin opens two spots at the hotel this month: Café Rosé and Bistro Alex. Also new is the 162-room Aloft Houston by the Galleria in the Uptown District, which offers one small meeting room.

Lansing, Mich.Renovated, Reflagged

Following a recent revamp, the 212-room Lexington Lansing Hotel, formerly a Sheraton, now sports a new lobby with two guest work stations; further improvements are in the works. The Courtyard by Marriott–Lansing modernized its 129 rooms this past summer. New to East Lansing is the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, with a fitness center and one meeting room. Also, the 300-room Holiday Inn–South has been renamed the Causeway Bay Hotel.
