Center to Open Soon

The new $50 million LEED-certified Santa Fe Convention Center is on target to open downtown in August with approximately 40,000 square feet of event space and parking for 512 vehicles. The 157-room La Posada de Santa Fe Resort & Spa will wrap up a $5 million renovation this spring. Last September, the 219-room Eldorado Hotel & Spa finished a top-down $10.5 million renovation.

St. Louis, Mo.
Development Continues

This city has profited from the investment of more than $3.5 billion in economic development, including 2,600 new hotel rooms, over the past three years. Additional projects are on the way. Among them: The $240 million Ameristar Casino St. Charles, slated to open later this year, will include a 400-room luxury hotel and a 55,000-square-foot conference center. A 164-room Drury Inn & Suites opened this month. Lambert St. Louis International Airport breaks ground this summer on a
$105 million redesign.

Hotel: JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa. Renovations completed: early February. Rooms: 575. Meeting space: 88,000 square feet. Key changes: the addition of several water features (including a lazy river), and expansion of the riverside restaurant.

CA, Mammoth Lakes

Hotel: Westin Monache Resort. Opened: December 2007. Rooms: 120 suites, 110 condos. Meeting space: 2,000 square feet. Key features: a bar/restaurant and a WestinWorkout fitness center, plus gas fireplaces, kitchenettes, and Westin Heavenly Beds in all guest rooms.

CA, Stockton

Hotel: Sheraton Stockton Hotel at Regent Pointe. Opened: December 2007. Rooms: 178. Meeting space: 10,000 square feet. Key features: a fitness facility, a 24-hour business center, and the Hippo Bar and Restaurant.

IL, Chicago

Hotel: Hotel Sax Chicago. Renovations completed: February. Price tag: $20 million. Rooms: 353. Meeting space: 10,000 square feet. Key changes: Formerly the House of Blues Hotel; all meeting space was creatively redesigned and now features varied room shapes, contemporary sculptures and one 36-foot-long video wall.

NV, Las Vegas

Hotel: The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino. Opened: December 2007. Rooms: 3,068. Meeting space: 2.25 million square feet. Key features: a 105,000-square-foot casino, the Canyon Ranch SpaClub, the Shoppes at Palazzo, the 250,000-square-foot Palazzo Pool Deck and nine restaurants.

NY, Tarrytown

Hotel: Westchester Marriott Tarrytown. Renovations to be completed: spring 2008. Price tag: $2 million. Rooms: 444. Meeting space: approximately 5,000 square feet. Key changes: the addition of a 2,970-square-foot ballroom and a soft-goods renovation of the Grand Ballroom.

TX, Austin

Hotel: Hyatt Regency Austin. Reopened: January. Price tag: $17 million. Rooms: 448. Meeting space: 23,000 square feet. Key changes: A new reception area features check-in kiosks, and a new 24-hour gym was added.

TX, Grapevine

Hotel: The Great Wolf Lodge. Opened: December 2007. Rooms: 402. Meeting space: 10,000 square feet. Key features: a 98,000-square-foot indoor entertainment center and water park, restaurants, the Elements Spa.
