St. Charles, Mo.
Open for Business
The St. Charles Convention Center celebrated its grand opening on April 9. The center, able to accommodate groups of up to 3,000, features 58,970 square feet of exhibit and meeting space, including a 16,200-square-foot grand ballroom. Supporting the new center will be the 300-room Embassy Suites St. LouisSt. Charles, with 5,200 square feet of meeting space and a full-service day spa, to open July 2005.

Adding Attractions
A 200-room Sheraton
is due to open in fall 2006 and a 260-room Westin by year-end 2007, both near Baltimore-Washington International Airport. The B&O Railroad Museum reopened in May after a 22-month closure. The new Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture, with a 200-seat theater, is scheduled to open in July 2005, as is Sports Legends at Camden Yards, a museum dedicated to sports heroes from baseball to lacrosse.

AZ, Sedona
The Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa opens this month, offering 77 guest rooms, suites and “spa guest rooms” equipped with soaking tubs. The hotel offers 1,900 square feet of indoor meeting and function space, as well as a 2,500-square-foot outdoor function area and observation deck.

FL, Jacksonville
The Adam’s Mark Jacksonville recently was purchased by Jackson Waterfront Partners LLC and renamed the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville. The 966-room hotel will undergo a $10 million guest room renovation, due to be completed by early 2006.

IL, Chicago
Chicago’s historic Claridge Hotel is back in business as the newly renovated Hotel Indigo Chicago Gold Coast, now under the management of InterContinental Hotels Group. The hotel offers 165 guest rooms, a 24-hour business center and a meeting room that can seat 55 people.

The Resort at Paws UpTwo Paws Up, WAY up. Designed for small meetings or incentive retreats, the Resort at Paws Up opens this month on 37,000 acres of cattle farm and wilderness along the Blackfoot River in Greenough, Mont. The luxury property can host up to 86 guests in two- to four-bedroom houses and offers a variety of event facilities, including a 300-seat theater and an equestrian center. (406) 244-5200;

TX, Horseshoe Bay
The 349-room Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott Hotel, on the grounds of the private Horseshoe Bay Resort on Lake LBJ, celebrated its grand opening last month. Guests have access to the full-service fitness club and spa, a private beach, three golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and an 18-hole, night-lit putting course. The property offers 22,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, including the 12,000-square-foot Granite Ballroom.

UT, Salt Lake City
The Salt Lake City Convention Center Hotel last month was rebranded as the Radisson Hotel Salt Lake City Downtown. The hotel, adjacent to the Salt Palace Convention Center and Delta Center sports arena, offers 381 guest rooms and 15,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space.

VA, Williamsburg
The Crowne Plaza Williamsburg, a 303-room hotel with 26,000 square feet of meeting space, opened in May, following a $4.5 million renovation. Within walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg, the hotel features indoor and outdoor swimming pools, as well as lighted outdoor tennis courts.

WI, Fontana
The Abbey Resort on Lake Geneva last month celebrated the completion of an ambitious $40 million renovation. The 90-acre property offers 334 refurbished guest rooms and 40,000 square feet of revamped meeting and event space, including a 10,150-square-foot ballroom. Also updated was the resort’s 35,000-square-foot spa.
