More Meeting Space
The city continues to debate the proposed $455 million Music City Center, a new convention facility. The 285-room InterContinental Nash-ville breaks ground later this year, to open by 2009 with 18,000 square feet of meeting space. The 338-room Doubletree Hotel Nashville has added 21,000 square feet of meeting space.

AZ, Chandler
The San Marcos Golf Resort has renovated all of its 295 guest rooms and has been renamed the Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort. Among the property’s offerings are an 18-hole PGA golf course and 35,000 square feet of meeting space.

CA, Claremont
The former Claremont Inn reopened in May as the Doubletree Hotel Clare-mont, after completion of an extensive $10 million renovation to the property’s 190 guest rooms and 12,500 square feet of meeting space. The hotel also added new dining facilities and a spa.

FL, Orlando
The 400-room Sheraton Orlando North Hotel will open next month with 15,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, a state-of-the-art business center, a concierge floor with private lounge, a fitness center, a spa, and an outdoor pool with fountains and a Jacuzzi.

FL, St. Petersburg
The 227-room Hilton St. PetersburgCarillon Park opened last month with more than 12,500 square feet of meeting space, including the 9,265-square-foot Picasso Ballroom. The hotel also has a business center and high-speed wireless Internet.

GA, Atlanta
DiamondRock Hospitality Co. and the Noble Investment Group acquired the Westin Atlanta North at Perimeter from Starwood Hotels & Resorts for $61.5 million. The 369-room hotel, which features 20,000 square feet of flexible meeting and banquet space, is expected to announce forthcoming renovations.

MD, Rockville
The Sheraton Rockville Hotel will open in August with 155 guest rooms complete with high-speed Internet, large work desks and flat-screen TVs. Additional features will include a fitness center, a business center and 1,008 square feet of flexible public space that can accommodate 10 to 80 people for meetings or receptions.

MI, Brighton
Hilton Hotels Corp. opened a new 92-suite Homewood Suites in May. The three-story property features a mix of residential-style studios, one- and two-bedroom suites with kitchens, an executive business center and wireless high-speed Internet.

NJ, Cherry Hill
The 408-room Crowne Plaza Philadelphia-Cherry Hill Hotel, until June a Hilton property, currently is undergoing a $5 million renovation that includes improvements to the exterior, the lobby and all 43,000 square feet of meeting space.

TX, Dallas
The Doubletree Hotel Dallas Market Center (formerly a Wyndham hotel) made its debut last month after completing a $2 million upgrade that included all 228 guest rooms and public areas, plus the entire 7,000 square feet of meeting space.

VA, Herndon
The 328-room Crowne Plaza-Dulles Airport, formerly the Days Hotel and Conference Center, opened in May following a $7 million renovation. The property offers 7,434 square feet of meeting space along with a 24-hour business center and complimentary shuttle service to Dulles International Airport.
