Pasadena, Calif.
Center Expansion

The Pasadena Convention Center is in the midst of a $150 million expansion project, scheduled to wrap up in spring 2009. Upon completion, the facility will feature a new total of 125,000 square feet of function space, including a new 60,000-square-foot exhibit hall, a 25,000-square-foot ballroom and 28 breakout rooms.

CA, Del Mar

Hotel: L’Auberge Del Mar. Reopened: June. Rooms: 120. Meeting space: 15,500 square feet. Key changes: a new open-air lobby, revamped guest rooms, refreshed meeting facilities and a new crushed-shell pool deck with private cabanas. By December, a signature restaurant and a 4,500-square-foot spa will open.

CA, Napa

Hotel: The Westin Verasa, Napa. Opening: September. Rooms: 180 suites. Meeting space: 12,000 square feet. Key features: an outdoor pool, a hot tub, two bocce courts, La Toque restaurant, a lounge and wine bar, and a 24-hour fitness center.

FL, Atlantic Beach

Hotel: The One Ocean Resort and Spa. Opened: July. Rooms: 193. Meeting space: 10,000 square feet. Key features: an art gallery, a restaurant and a spa.

FL, Vero Beach

Hotel: Costa d’Este Beach Resort. Opened: June. Rooms: 94. Meeting space: 1,170 square feet. Key features: a signature restaurant and bar, an infinity-edge swimming pool and cabana bar, a full-service spa, a fitness center and a Cuban-inspired restaurant called Oriente.

GA, Atlanta

Hotel: W Atlanta-Midtown. Opened: June. Rooms: 466. Meeting space: 30,000 square feet. Key features: a cozy lobby called the Living Room, a Bliss spa, a Jean-Georges restaurant and the Whiskey Bar by Rande Gerber.

MD, Washington, D.C.

Hotel: Marriott Wardman Park. Renovations completed: June. Price tag: $100 million. Rooms: 1,316. Meeting space: 195,000 square feet. Key changes: the addition of a 10,000-square-foot ballroom, wireless Internet access in all meeting rooms and an on-site FedEx/Kinkos office.

NJ, Atlantic City

Hotel: The Water Club, A Signature Hotel by Borgata. Opened: June. Rooms: 800. Meeting space: 18,000 square feet. Key features: a two-story, 36,000-square-foot spa; the Sunroom lobby lounge; five pools, and in-room dining by Chef Geoffrey Zakarian of Manhattan’s Town and Country.

NY, New York City

Hotel: Empire Hotel. Renovations completed: June. Price tag: $47 million. Rooms: 413. Meeting space: 2,100 square feet. Key changes: a new lobby bar, a guest room redesign (including new LCD flat-screen televisions, iPod docking stations and wireless Internet access) and a new pool deck (with cabanas) for parties of up to 150.

TX, Arlington

Hotel: Holiday Inn Arlington - Northeast. Opened: July. Rooms: 147. Meeting space: 2,400 square feet. Key features: the Sporting News Grill, a media room with a 62-inch LCD TV, a fitness center, complimentary shuttle service to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, and microwaves and mini refrigerators in all guest rooms.

VT, Stowe

Hotel: Stowe Mountain Lodge. Opened: June. Rooms: 139. Meeting space: 21,100 square feet. Key features: a 21,000-square-foot spa; an 18-hole, Bob Cupp-designed golf course; the 110-seat Solstice restaurant; a pool, and two bars.
